What's this Air Race about?

Actually it's not a race.  Rather it's a time trial.
The fastest aircraft is not the one that wins rather the most accurate one.

Pilots will be asked to nominate a time they estimate it will take to conduct the course. Your take off and landing times will be recorded.  You will fly the route and you will be awarded points according to how close you are to your estimated time.

In addition there is a quiz to answer on the way.  The questions will be about features on the route - so you  have to actually fly the route! You will be given the quiz sheet on the day.

There will also be some aviation questions and some general knowledge questions. There will not be any questions about features in the circuit area so you can concentrate on flying then.

Once into the circuit be on your best behaviour because your circuit procedures will be marked.

In the final tally you will have marks for each of two legs plus the quiz plus the circuit procedures.

Unlike previous years there will be no penalty for using GPS.
